Sunil S. Rayan MD, FACS
Board-Certified in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery

Dr. Sunil Rayan attended the University of California, Berkeley and finished with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He graduated from Hahnemann University Medical School in 1996 with honors. He trained in general surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, from 1996 to 2002. During that time, he spent a year pursuing laboratory and clinical research at Harvard Medical School. He further specialized in vascular surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia which is one of the premier vascular centers in the United States. He has been in private practice in San Diego since 2004.

He specializes in the minimally invasive treatment of vascular disease and performs the majority of angiograms, angioplasty, and stents for the group. He has devoted his practice exclusively to vascular surgery.   He is also the co-director of Pacific Coast Vein Center.


Marc M. Sedwitz MD, FACS
Board Certified in General and Vascular Surgery

Dr. Marc Sedwitz has been practicing medicine since 1983 and has been board-certified in Surgery in 1985. He received his medical degree from Boston University in 1978. He trained in general surgery at New York Hospital, the teaching hospital for Cornell University from 1978 to 1983. Dr. Sedwitz specialized in vascular surgery at the prestigious University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Sedwitz also completed additional oncologic training at Sloan-Kettering in New York City, arguably the best cancer center in the United States. He held an academic appointment at University of California, San Diego Medical Center before entering private practice.

Dr. Sedwitz’s interests encompass general, vascular, and trauma surgery. He is an active member of the trauma team at Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla and performs all the general surgery for the group.


Rae L. Richard NP
Board Certified as an Adult and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Rae Richard joined Pacific Coast Vascular in 1999. She attended Point Loma Nazarene University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and Music. She spent much of her nursing career at Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla working in cardiology and later managing an Infusion Therapy team. She returned to school and in 1998 graduated with honors from the prestigious University of San Diego with a Masters of Science as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She subsequently obtained board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Pracitioner, as well as advanced training in surgery to function as a surgical first assistant.
